I didn’t expect to meet my person at 42—here’s what happened.

Hey Reader!

You’ve probably seen me share about the America’s Favorite Couple competition these past few weeks. But what I haven’t done yet is share why this story matters so much to me—beyond the votes and updates.

At 42, as a single mom, I cautiously gave Bumble a try. I wasn’t expecting much. I had a good life, a great kid, and zero interest in dating just to fill a space.

Then I met Rene. He’s Deaf. I’m hearing.
From the very beginning, our communication had to be intentional. It wasn’t about small talk or rushing into “relationship mode.” It was about slowing down, showing up, and truly seeing each other.

Our connection wasn’t flashy or fast—but it was real.

What started as a cautious coffee date turned into a real connection—slowly, quietly, and more genuinely than I’d ever experienced before.

And now, here we are—married, blending families, and sharing a life that, frankly, I didn’t think was in the cards for me at that stage of life.

I’ve shared the full story (including the flung coffee cup mishaps and what it’s taught me about communication) here:

This journey is a huge part of why I photograph people the way I do.
It’s not just about pretty pictures.
It’s about helping people feel seen, understood, and magnetic in their own way—because I know firsthand how powerful that is.

If you have a quiet moment today, I’d love for you to read it.

Thanks for being here,
